Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ) appoints Walmart CEO

Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ) has appointed Greg Foran as the airline’s next Chief Executive Officer. He is currently CEO and President of US retail giant Walmart.

He is responsible for the strategic direction and performance of the company’s 4,600 stores and more than one million staff, making Walmart part of the world’s largest company by revenues,  Walmart Inc, with global revenues of more than US$500 billion last year alone.

Air New Zealand chairman Dame Therese Walsh says Greg, who grew up in Hastings and Hamilton, will be an outstanding leader of the airline and the company is thrilled to have attracted a world class Kiwi back home.

Greg will take up the position in the first quarter of 2020.

Shares in Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ) closed 0.76 per cent higher at $2.66 yesterday.
