Energy sector drags on market: ASX closed 2.5% lower

20 Apr 2020 - The ASX has recorded its worst session in three weeks today closing 2.5% lower. Shares in Nine Entertainment (ASX:NEC) did well today as did Domain Holdings (ASX:DHG). Shares in the Southern Cross Media Group (ASX:SXL) and New Hope Corp (ASX:NHC) both saw declines. Kogan.com (ASX:KGN) report that March saw record growth of the Kogan.com Community with the largest monthly increase in Active Customers since their IPO.

24% of Australians are working less hours due to COVID-19: ASX tracking 1.3% lower at noon

20 Apr 2020 - The ASX dropped at the open and has continued to fall throughout mid morning trade. It is now tracking almost 1.3% lower at noon. Shares in Caltex Australia (ASX:CTX) dropped after and Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. decided to not proceed with the acquisition proposal. Beach Energy (ASX:BPT) and its Joint Venture Partner Otway have issued Ocean Onyx rig operator Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. with a notice of termination for the Ocean Onyx rig contract.

US oil and gold take a hit: ASX poised to open steady

20 Apr 2020 - Following a rally from US markets, the ASX looks set to open steady this morning. The International Monetary Fund says the global economy is expected to shrink by 3% this year, before growing by 5.8% next year. It’s reported the Global economy may not fully recover from the coronavirus crisis by 2021. Fonterra Co-operative Group (ASX:FSF) say Chinese bidders are returning to GlobalDairyTrade auction.

China’s economy contracts: Aus shares close 1.3% higher

17 Apr 2020 - It has been a strong finish to the week for the Australian share market, closing 1.3 % higher today. Every sector made gains except Consumer Staples. Industrials led the day rising over 4 per cent. China released economic data which showed that its gross domestic product fell 6.8 per cent for the first quarter of 2020.
