US markets stronger on energy: US housing market resilient

19 Aug 2022 - US equities finished higher in uneventful Thursday trading, though off best levels. More data released Thursday provided clues into the state of both the jobs and housing markets. Initial jobless claims fell to 250,000 for the week ended Aug. 13, while existing home sales dropped nearly 6 per cent in July.

US equities finished lower as investors focus on retail earnings

18 Aug 2022 - Stocks fell as the rally that has pushed prices higher since mid-June appeared to lose steam. Traders also assessed the latest retail data and minutes from the Federal Reserve. US retailers push market higher: BHP rallies overnight

17 Aug 2022 - The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied on Tuesday, rising for a fifth day as earnings results from Walmart and Home Depot showed consumer spending could remain strong enough to keep the economy from tipping over into a downturn. US equities rise despite weakening Chinese economic data

16 Aug 2022 - US equities rose on Monday as the rally on Wall Street continued as traders prepared for a big week for retail earnings.The move came despite disappointing economic data out of China, where the country’s central bank cut rates unexpectedly, raising concern over China’s economic recovery.
