Democrats on track to win balance of power in Senate: Aus shares set to open higher

07 Jan 2021 - The ASX futures are pointing to a jump at the open following news that the Democrats are projected to win one seat in Georgia, and are narrowly holding the other as the votes are counted. Meanwhile, President Trump supporters have stormed the Capitol building and forced it into lockdown to prevent the count of the Electoral College votes which would affirm Joe Biden’s victory.

Information Technology sector slides today: ASX closed 1.1% lower

06 Dec 2021 - The Australian sharemarket slid today closing 75 points down, or 1.1 per cent lower at 6,607. Shares in Worley (ASX:WOR) rose today whereas shares in Nanosonics (ASX:NAN) fell. Sheffield Resources (ASX:SFX) and Yansteel have executed binding definitive documents to form a 50:50 Joint Venture on the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project.

Tech sector drags on market: ASX tracking 0.7% lower at noon

06 Jan 2021 - The ASX opened lower this morning. the S&P/ASX 200 Index is 44 points down or 0.7% lower at 6,638. Futures are pointing to a fall of 24 points. Afterpay (ASX:APT) shares dropped today dragging down the tech sector. Shares in Oil Search (ASX:OSH) are doing well on the back of the oil price rise.
